The fitting of a capillary bundle structure is carried out in a similar way to the void network model, but instead of choosing a void network structure the capillary bundle structure is chosen from the list of structures.

Open the file clashac.csv and proceed through the sampling stage of the file opening procedure until the fitting page is displayed. When the capillary bundle structure the advanced options are disabled, as the fitting process does not involve the simplex.

Select the capillary bundle structure and use dimensions of 10 x 10 x 10, then click on the 'Accept' button to finish the fitting for the capillary bundle structure. You can now continue onto the next part of the capillary bundle tutorial.

The capillary bundle structure works by taking the first derivative of the intrusion curve, the first derivative is then converted into capillary volume to display the capillary bundle structure. A capillary structure is highly suited to samples such as a track etch membrane where the pores are introduced into the sample using radioactivity which travels in a straight line. Natural systems are generally modelled better using a void network model, the capillary bundle structure allows you to compare the two structure types and choose the most appropriate.
