The wetting fluid uptake tutorial introduces the fluid uptake screen shown below operating in wetting mode. The tutorial will provide instructions on how to wet the calcium carbonate unit cell structure for 0.5 ms, generate 10 equally spaced intermediate structures which can be used with the fluid uptake progress uptake analysis operation. To create a graphical representation of wetting against time.

To use the Fluid uptake screen to perform wetting simulations the following steps are required.

1.Change the wetting time to 0.5 ms
2.Choose the number of intermediate structures - 10
a.Select whether to add the number of intermediate structures to the operation list, or add the operations to a different data file
b.if saving to a different data file choose a name for the file
3.Change the position of the super source in the advanced menu
4.Choose the wetting fluid from the list of fluids in the materials database.

Optional steps

Apply an external positive pressure to the wetting simulation.
Change the skeletal material in the advanced menu.
Turn on the preview screen (Previewing the structure slows down the wetting simulation as the user interface needs to create a visualisation)
Select whether the preview screen refreshes the unit cell at the flags (Updating the structure slows down the wetting simulation as the user interface needs to create a visualisation)
