Capillary Bundle Permeability

The capillary bundle model allows you to calculate the permeability of your bundle of capillaries, the bundle of capillaries will give a different value for permeability when compared with a void network model representation. To perform the permeability operation on a bundle of capillaries you need to make sure that the bundle of capillaries was the last unit cell built, and then click on the permeability operation located under the calculation menu.

The permeability screen will then appear allowing you to perform the permeability operation using any of the wetting liquids or gases that are stored in your materials database. Additional materials can be added to the materials database depending on the version of PoreXpert being used if the material is not already in the database. You can select any of the materials from the list of materials to use as the fluid for calculation of permeability, in the example files, oxygen has been used. It is recommended that you investigate the difference in permeability for different structure types, sometimes the capillary bundle permeability will be larger, other times it will be smaller. It is very easy to add additional operations to the initialisation tutorial you may have followed earlier to compare permeability. The permeability calculated for the initialisation tutorial would be a 3D network permeability, and the capillary bundle permeability is more representative of a 2D permeability.

For more detailed instructions about how to run the permeability operation, follow the calculation operations tutorial.
