Tutorial: Performing a compression correction

The following instructions provide guidelines on how to perform a compression correction, using the tutorial data files located in My Documents\PoreXpert\PoreXpand\Tutorial Files and on the datafile downloads page of the PoreXpert website.  The instructions are accessed by clicking on the appropriate link below, or simply stepping through the tutorial.

1.Add the tutorial blank file to the blank mercury porosimetry runs database (Micromeritics only)

2.Open the Tutorial sample file on the home screen. Enter the additional experimental data required not in the data file (Micromeritics only)

3.Perform the first stage of the compression correction (correcting for the blank data file, Micromeritics only)

4.Zoom into the high pressure region of the graph to investigate how many data points are needed to be used to correct for compression of the sample.

5.Enter the number of points to correct for compression

6.Trim the graph (Optional to remove possible edge effects in the low pressure region, or to remove an extended plateau in the high pressure region.)

7.Export the data for use in PoreXpert.

All numbers entered into PoreXpand need to be entered using the United Kingdom or United States format for numbers e.g. one thousand is written 1000.00 If you are using a computer outside the UK or USA, you will need to check that you enter the numbers using the correct regional settings while using PoreXpand.
